It's easy to get in a rut of complaining and being ungrateful. Somehow many of us have arrived to this place of expectancy. We believe GOD owes us something and based on that ideology, we can easily become ungrateful. Worst yet, we can become self-absorbed, finding ourselves in the place of self entitlement. Beloved hear me today, we are not entitled and gratitude is paramount!
Open your eyes and take a look around. Look at family, friends, associates and strangers. Look at the people around you and picture their story. If you can't, then take some time and go to the soup kitchen or a food pantry and look at the souls there. Take time to speak with them and ask them their story. I promise, you'll be amazed at some of the stories you hear. Your amazement should cause you to reflect on the blessings in your life. You'll no longer look at things as a simple blessing. Instead, you'll look at every gift form GOD as a huge blessing. Think of it this way, if you have $5.00 and you find $1.00, isn't that more than you had a few minutes or seconds ago? You bet your bottom dollar it is!
Well here's my scenario: Today I went to the supermarket to grab 2 items and as most of us do, we end up leaving with way more than intended. So I literally would've only spent about $15.00 but instead I spent a whopping $79! Just a few things, huh Soph. Anyhow, again as most people do they, leave their recyclable shopping bags at home and then try to figure out how to get the groceries together. I refuse to purchase more bags because I have bags galore in my house and usually in my car. I digress. So I purchased my items and began using the bagless shopping cart method. You know, loading everything in the shopping cart without a bag. Anyhow, you get the drift. So as I was preparing to leave, the cashier said to me, "Do you want a bag." I told her no, I didn't pay for bags because I have soooo many at home. She said, "Don't we all?! Here you go, don't worry about it, take it." I told her thank you and said, oh you gave me 3 bags. She then replied, "You have a few groceries, pack them separately." I said ok, thank you so much, and said GOD thank You!
3 paper bags wouldn't seem like much of anything and sort of the thing someone would readily brush off their shoulder, but not me. I make it my business to recognize the blessings of GOD. Beloved, this may seem simple to you, but to me, nothing GOD does is simple. Nothing He does should be taken lightly or for granted. I left with 3 more bags than I had, I didn't have to pay for them, and I can use them for trash. Thank You GOD for your blessings.
